Description

This is a newly created role within a small, high-performing finance team, offering variety, visibility, and the chance to shape how tax is managed across the group.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on role covering both corporation tax and VAT across multiple UK entities. You’ll be responsible for ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and supporting the business with proactive tax advice on new initiatives and commercial decisions. You’ll also help strengthen internal tax controls and governance processes.

This is ideal for someone who is immediately available or on a short notice period, and looking for a position where they can make an immediate impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review corporation tax and deferred tax calculations at month-end and year-end
  • Manage corporation tax returns and liaise with external advisors to ensure timely, accurate submissions
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns in line with the company’s Partial Exemption Special Method (PESM)
  • Provide guidance to the wider finance team on VAT recognition and related queries
  • Support the Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) process and maintain robust tax documentation and controls
  • Monitor tax legislation changes, ensuring the business stays compliant and up to date
  • Act as a key contact for HMRC and external tax advisors
  • Provide tax input on ad hoc projects, new business lines, or structural changes

About You

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA) or tax-qualified (CTA, ATT)
  • Proven experience within a tax function in financial services (banking, wealth management, or investment management preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with both direct and indirect taxes (corporation tax, VAT, SAO)
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills
  • Commercially aware, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Available immediately or within 2–4 weeks

What’s on Offer

  • Salary up to £85,000
  • Broad exposure to tax, reporting, and advisory work
  • Supportive, close-knit finance team
  • Hybrid working (2–3 days in the office)
  • A genuine opportunity to take ownership and influence how tax is managed
